Balance Lost

Balance Lost is the musical splurge of Pete Glover to create a style that wanders freely between the indie, hip-hop and electronic sections of the record store. Originally coming from the cultural dustbin of Medway in the UK, Pete is now operating in Kyoto and has been forced to adapt to the absence of long-time collaborator, bass controller and designer Matt Hayward.

KEEP YOUR AIRWAVES CLEAR

Continuing from the indie-rock of Pete's previous band, Carpetburn, Balance Lost has gradually morphed into unique blend that borrows liberally from the jangly guitars of The Stone Roses and American Football, the synthwave of contemporaries such as College and Com Truise, the beat sampling of RZA and the Wu-Tang Clan and the raw soul of Otis Redding and Baby Huey. The hip-hop influence has even borne fruit in the shape of an album under the side-project White Privilege.

ANOTHER DISEASE HAS GONE VIRAL

The first three albums (Action, Songs for Thomas Uden and Introducing Light Pollution) showcased a folkier and more guitar-based approach to pop music. Since the release of the Little Signs EP in 2014 the sound has shifted closer to the sample and synth driven aesthetic that can be heard on 2017's opus A Chronicle of Wasted Time.
